Frequent Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Please wear clean dry comfortable fitted 4 way stretch clothing without zippers or buttons, socks with grip(toe socks preferred) and your personal water bottle. Please wear appropriate undergarments. Hair pulled back and no dangling jewelry is best for safety. We need to be able to asses how your body is moving in order to make the proper modifications and corrections, wearing loose clothing will hinder my ability to do so. We recommended  Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move in and not feel restricted in any way. We recommend Yoga-style pants (no wide legs for Pilates)and tops that expose your shoulders to allow for full range of motion and we asses your movements.

What is the benefit of a Private studio?

A private studio is more intimate, without a large number of clients so more time is focused on you. A private studio allows the instructor and you to solely focus on your body's needs, abilities, pace and goals. Which gives you the opportunity to see results faster and many people find this setting more inviting.

Small group classes have a very similar setting and feeling to a private session at a discounted rate.

Does Pilates help with back issues?

Pilates may be beneficial for some people with back discomfort by helping develop core strength, stability, mobility, posture, and body awareness. Because every body and condition is different, we encourage you to speak with your healthcare provider when appropriate. If you would benefit from more individualized attention, a Private Pilates Assessment can help us determine an appropriate place to begin.

Is Pilates good for beginners?

Absolutely. Pilates can be a wonderful place to begin because exercises can be adapted to your experience, strength, mobility, and individual needs. At Pilates by Isabella, we emphasize form, control, and strong foundations so you can learn the Pilates Method with confidence and progress thoughtfully over time. Visit our New CLient Page and start with ROOTS.

Is Pilates appropriate for active older adults?

Yes. Pilates can be an excellent practice for active older adults looking to maintain strength, mobility, balance, flexibility, posture, and coordination. Because Pilates can be adapted to the individual, your practice can continue to evolve with you—supporting the activities you enjoy and helping you stay strong and confident in your movement.

Can I do Pilates while pregnant?

Yes, for many people Pilates can be adapted throughout pregnancy with appropriate modifications and guidance from your healthcare provider. As your body changes, we focus on strength, stability, mobility, posture, breathing, and comfortable movement, while modifying exercises as needed for each stage of pregnancy.

Can I return to Pilates after surgery or physical therapy?

Yes, once you have been cleared by your healthcare provider or physical therapist, Pilates can offer a thoughtful way to return to movement. We can gradually rebuild strength, mobility, stability, balance, and confidence, with exercises adapted to your individual needs and current abilities.

What’s the difference between Reformer and Mat Pilates?

Both are part of the Pilates Method. Mat Pilates uses your body weight and gravity to develop strength, control, mobility, and coordination, while Reformer Pilates uses spring resistance and specialized equipment to provide both support and challenge. Practicing both creates a more well-rounded Pilates practice and a deeper understanding of the Method.

Do you offer Pilates en español?

¡Sí! Ofrecemos sesiones privadas de Pilates en español, con instrucción personalizada según tus necesidades, objetivos y experiencia. Si prefieres aprender y practicar Pilates en español, estaremos encantados de ayudarte a comenzar.
